In 1983, few Leuva and Kadwa Patel immigrant families, originated from the Saurashtra region of India came to Canada. In 1989, they established the Saurashtra Patel Samaj, Canada (SPSC). Owing to high influx of immigration, SPSC has grown to an organization having over 250 families across Canada.
The objectives of SPSC are to promote the common brotherhood, social uplift, social gathering, educational and cultural activities and to foster good relations with other communities.
The SPSC is based in Greater Toronto Area (GTA), has a distinct and diverse history. Its members have a common ancestral ties rooted to the Saurashtra region of India. Our members are quite a diverse mix - with those directly came from India and those that have transplanted themselves to Africa, the Caribbean or other parts of world before coming to Canada.
This association is organized for Canada's Saurashtra Patel Samaj families and their relatives to provide a common platform to promote social, cultural, educational and religious programs. The mission is to cultivate the spirit of self-esteem and ethical values across the community by maintaining high standard of morals in today's fast paced life. This can be achieved by social conventions, cultural programs, educational seminars and religious rituals. |
